Oakville Guitarist Teacher Rick Washbrook Never Stops Learning
Recognize that everyone is a teacher through our actions and sharing of knowledge. Our children are continuously receiving inspiration and seeking knowledge from you and the environment around them. As a, teacher, professor, or athlete, your actions are observed, often imitated and remembered by the younger less experienced generations. The attitude of perpetual learning should be taught to your children to foster an attitude of intellectual and musical wealth.
I can help push you up to the next level of how to use those, blues riffs, blues scales, blues solo’s, elecric guitar, and the different sounds it can create.
Rick Washbrook Guitarist has come a long way. Originally born in California in December 17th, 1958. The Washbrook family moved to Toronto Canada in 1972. As a youngster Rick Washbrook played on street corners, and the T.T.C. Subway in Toronto. In his 30’s and 40’s his California infectious smile and guitar playing lead him playing in USA, Costa Rica, Switzerland, Key West, and up the North West Territories.
Rick Washbrook has received Accolades and reviews from Guitar Player Magazine USA, Finger Style Guitar Magazine USA, Liona Boyd, Randy Bachman, Don Thompson, Moe Koffman, Ed Bickert, Jamie Abersole, and more.
In 2001 riding the wave of popularity from his CD “A Gypsy’s Bed” that garnered him many reviews and concerts and new students.
His recognition spread. Music critics like Mark E. Gallo, Jazzreview.com USA are astonished by Rick Washbroo’ks technique and soul.
“If the sign of an artist is the melding of chops/technical proficiency and soul, Washbrooks guitar playing is indeed the work of a maestro……His music within speaks of his love of the instrument. An articulate musician with a deeply joyful, soulful and spiritual approach”. Mark E. Gallo.
Rick Washbrook’s roots are heavy in the blues; this is the traditional creative river that Washbrook is gifted with that makes his jazz palatable to a wide range audience.
Rick Washbrook is currently teaching in Oakville Ontario, and in the studio recording his new Flamenco jazzy guitar CD called “Hot Sauce”
When speaking with Rick Washbrook he expressed, “I have been exposed to many different learning methods, some that propelled me and some that held me back. The way I teach is through experience and application. A lot of method books show but don’t help you apply. I believe everything you learn at all levels you should be applying it to the things that you already do.
We never stop learning…this is the joy and the journey”.
Washbrook also states “Let me explain what happens a lot of the time when working without a teacher…. the student reads chapter 5 before reading chapter 1, or then reads chapter 3 before reading chapter 2. I think that really explains it. It’s good to have a teacher and coach to make the progress less confusing.”
Karl Stober from Jazzreview.com says this about Washbrook’s playing;
“Rick Washbrook’s talents can best be defined as technically secure, along with being spiritually seductive. The chord exchanges residing in the Washbrook arrangements flow like a strong-willed mountain stream. West Mystic, like his previous accomplishment, A Gypsy’s Bed, holds a cunningly complex attitude that is perfectly calibrated…fret to fret. On the flip-side of that observation, the music aligns itself in a romantic state of purity for the listener. The Washbrook sway is angelic by nature, however, vibrant in execution. This artist, jazz aficionado, has a fine piece of sound!” Karl Stober
